TS5A22364-Q1: TS5A22364-Q1 signal range in OFF state

Table1 explain signal path is selected by IN pin like NC to COM or NO to COM, but Table2 is very confusing.

That is,

  • Minimum value of Table2 is all 0V in case of OFF state signal path.
  • Does this mean that negative is blocked and positive is passed when switch off state?
  • If sine wave is injected to COM pin and IN=H, we are expecting signal go to NO path.
  • But is there Positive signal from COM on NC path?

I think it is non-sense in switch operation and there should be no positive leakage on unselected path(OFF state).

Table2 show that positive/negative would pass on selected path, but there is still positive on unselected path.

Please let me know if I misunderstood, or clarify the Table2.

    Table 2 is used to supplement the abs max and recommended operating table. 

    The abs max table states you will not damage the device or have long term reliability issues if you keep the voltage on the NO and NC pins within the specified range. Note 4 on this spec states you can exceed the specified voltage range up to 5.5 V if the current clamp ratings are observed.

    The TS5A22364 device has a shunt resistor that connects to the NC and NO pins when the other path is selected.  This shunt resistor is used to dissipate charge on the unused line to reduce the pop sound in audio applications when the unused path is selected again. 

    According to the abs max table above the current through this shunt resistor must be limited to <20mA. 

    Table 2 is a recommendation to keep the signal swing on COM, NC, or NO pins to be within a specified range during the ON and OFF conditions and is redundant of the recommended and abs max tables earlier in the datasheet.  It is recommending on the unused signal path >0V to help prevent large leakage current to flow through the shunt resistor potentially violating the 20mA current limit. 

    If sine wave is injected to COM pin and IN=H, you would expect to see the sine wave on NO pin and nothing on NC. 

    Table 2 is for the case where you have two sine waves centered at 0 V simultaneously on both NO and NC there is a risk of large leakage current on the OFF signal path through the shunt resistor that is connected to the OFF NC or NO pin.

    Thanks for feedback.

    You confirmed that there will be sine wave on NO and nothing on NC if sine wave is injected to COM and IN=H. is that right?

    The truth table in the datasheet shows that if IN=H, the path from COM to NO will be ON and the path from COM to NC will be off.

     The datasheet also characterizes the amount of signal that will pass through the OFF path by off isolation.  This shows that the 100kHz signal on the COM pin will be attenuated by -66dB.
