TS5V330C: The minimum voltage on input(S1A,S2A).

Part Number: TS5V330C

Hello,

Regarding to input(S1A,S2A) on TS5V330C, my customer is asking a question.

(Question)

・How much voltages is minimum value on input(S1A,S2A) as ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM RATINGS?

From the output voltage range(Vi/o) in datasheet(page4), it becomes to -0.5V.

However the input and output voltage ratings may be exceeded if the input and output clamp-current ratings are observed.

My understanding is correct?

(Generally, the sync level is -300mV on Luma, composite and RGB video signal.)

 I’m asking just in case.

  • Tao,

The minimum recommended voltage for the analog signal path (pins Dx, S1x, and S2x) where the TS5V330C datasheet grantees the electrical performance is 0V.

The abs max table specifies stress limits and should not be exceeded or there will be risk of causing permeant damage or reliability issues.  The abs max minimum voltage on the analog signal path (pins Dx, S1x, and S2x) is -0.5 V.

As you mentioned there is a note that states you can exceed the voltage if the clamp current ratings are observed.  This is saying that there is a diode from the signal path to ground that will be forward biased as the voltage drops below 0 V causing exponential current increase and that current needs to be limited to <50 mA.

You can see more information in our switches and multiplexers FAQ page.
