TS3A5017: Frequency/Gain plot

Part Number: TS3A5017

My customer is planning to use TS3A5017 . It is expected to pass a 50MHz clock (Square Pulse) which has 0 to 3.3V swing. Any suggestion how good or bad it will be? I see the Frequency/Gain plot in the datasheet and it shows less than 1 db attenuation. I believe it is going to be fine. But wanted to hear from you as you might have some real test data. What will be attenuation at 50Mhz?

  • Hi Ashish,

As you suggested, your customer wants to transmit 50MHz square wave through TS3A5017. Since the square wave frequency components are abundant, I would consider the attenuation not only at 50MHz, but also at 100MHz and at 150MHz.

From our typical characteristic plot, we can tell the attenuation is about

    -1dB @ 50MHz   (fundamental frequency)

    -2dB @ 100MHz (2nd harmonic)

    -3dB @ 150MHz (3rd harmonic)

Since the 3rd harmonic can pass through TS3A5017 with only -3dB attenuation, I would think it can meet customer's request.
