TS5A3160: Getting doubts conection between Switch and Micro controller

Part Number: TS5A3160

Hi,

I studied the document of Ts5a3160 switch. & TPL5110 Nano timer

I want connect nano timer ( www.ti.com/.../TPL5110 and micro controller( cc3200) through the switch(TS5A3160).

1> I connected DRV pin of nano timer to IN pin of Switch

2> I connected  COM pin to VDD pin of CC3200 ( is it correct?)

I am getting doubt what about remaining pins of switch( NO, NC) we have to connect these pins ?

Please help me?

Thanks & Regards,

Ashok

  • What is the purpose of the switch? What problem are you actually trying to solve?
  • Hello Ashok,

As far as I understand your application, I do not see where the switch can fit.

Here is our switch function table.

    Hi Fan.wang,

I am using this switch to control the power of micro controller(cc3200) by using nano timer (TPL5110).

please help me how to connect these two boards through SWITCH(TS5A3160).

I am getting confusion at the connections.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards

  • In reply to Ashok kakarla:

Why do you want to use the TS5A3160 instead of a simple P-channel MOSFET (as shown in the TPL5110 datasheet)?

Anyway, the TPL5110 sets its DRV output low to switch on, so you have to connect the controller's power supply through the COM and NC pins, and leave NO open.
  • In reply to Clemens Ladisch:

    Hi Clemens Ladisch,
    Thanks for Reply,
TS5a3160 is ultra low leakage switch thats why i am using it.
I am getting a confusion how micro controller wake up from the sleep mode once it power off the supply from nano timer
  • In reply to Ashok kakarla:

Without power, the controller cannot wake up. The controller will restart when its power is switched on.
  • In reply to Clemens Ladisch:

    Thanks Clemens Ladisch
It helps me to clarify my doubts
    Regards
    Ashok
  • In reply to Ashok kakarla:

    Thanks Clemens Ladisch,
The DRV pin of tpl5110 nano timer continuously sends the wakeup signal to the switch (depending time we set by using resistor) to wake up the micro controller is correct?
    Regards
    Ashok
  • In reply to Ashok kakarla:

That depends on how the TPL is configured.
