: I am trying to switch 8 ohm speakers. When switched off there still is a scratchy sound coming though from the amplifier. The speakers are not completely switched off. I have tried a dummy load on the NC side of the switch but made no difference. Is there an application note pertaining to audio speaker switching or can you please send me some info regarding speaker switching.

Also will this be a problem when switching video from eg car cameras.

Do you have scope captures of the waveforms passing through the switch when the switch is on and off? COM, NC, and NO ?

The TS5A23159 device is not specified to pass signals < 0 V.

If you would like and audio switch that can support negative voltage signals, please look at the TS5A2236X family of devices.

Hi Adam

thank for the information. I don't have scope capture's at present but will look at it.

I have put car camera video signals through the TS5A23159 ad get nothing when the switch is made, I presume this is the same as audio signals. By using the TS5A22364 etc. will this cure this problem or do I have to use a different analog switch.

How are you determining you get "nothing" when the switch is conducting? It is unlikely you will get "nothing" if the switch is conducting unless it is damaged.

What is the voltage swing of your video signals?

I have solved the problem, which was to with some earthing on the video side. All is now functional.
