TS5A21366: Crosstalk & Isolation Performance

Part Number: TS5A21366
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS5A23166, TS5A23157

My customer uses MAX4619 as a signal isolator and 2:1 MUX.  They like it because it has -93dB off-isolation and -96dB crosstalk.  The signal they are trying to isolate and pass is 20-30MHz.  5V supply is good enough, low distortion is probably helpful.

What is TI's lowest crosstalk and best off-isolation 2:1 mux ? Is TS5A21366 my best option?

  • Shashank,

The cross talk and isolation performance specifications vary with frequency.  You cannot state a value of -93dB off-isolation and -96dB crosstalk with out stating which frequency this performance is measured.  For signal switches, the off-isolation and cross talk performance degraded as the signal frequency increases.  You can see this in the graphs in the datasheet.

Since you are looking to isolate 20-30MHz signals that is the point on the graph we would like to compare between devices

The TS5A21366 is a good choice for low cross talk switch and THD+N as it performs better than the MAX4619.  You can also look at the TS5A23157 which has a little bit better off isolation performance than the TS5A21366 @ 30MHz -55dB vs MAX4619 -42dB.

  • What is the best way to test  TS5A23157?  I do not see an EVM on the product page.

    Thanks,

    Jake

  • Jake,

To do some quick testing we recommend ordering a simple break out board from digikey.

What type of testing do you need to the TS5A23157? What is the performance expectation?

    Thank you,
