    Jim,

    Its likely some of these items are on other pages of the schematic but the biggest thing is making sure there are pull up resistors for the open drain output communication.  

    1. VDD is correctly supplied with 3.3 V which is within the recommended operating conditions and includes bypass capacitors.

    2. SCL and SDA are open drain outputs and will need pull up resistors for I2C communication

    3. MIC_PRESENT is open drain output and needs a pull up resistor as well

    4. MIC_P correctly connected to codec

    5. INT# is an open drain output and needs a pull up resistor as well

    6. GNDA for FM support features not used and correctly grounded

    7. GND_SENSE for cross talk reduction connected to codec

    8. GND correctly connected to ground

    9. SLEEVE and SLEEVE_SENSE correctly connected to type C connector sideband SBU  

    10. RING2 and RING2_SENSE correctly connected to type C connector sideband SBU  

    11. Tip pin is correctly connected to the tip of the headset. 

    12. DET_TRIGGER pin to initiate the automatic detection sequence is controlled by a GPIO.
