  • TI Thinks Resolved

CCS: Resource Explorer Failed to Open

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Resource Center fails to open/launch.

Tried the following troubleshooting steps though none work:

Resource Explorer

If Resource Explorer is unable to connect to the internet it may be an issue with the proxy setting. Ensure the setting is correct by performing the following steps:

  • Open the Preferences dialog (menu Window --> Preferences)
  • Type 'proxy' in the search box
  • Select 'Network Connections'
  • Under 'Active Provide', select 'Native'
  • Click OK
  • Close and restart CCS twice

Also try deleting the tirex-localserver-<version> folder found in C:\Users\<Userid>\ti and restarting CCS.

Another potential issue is that if there is an extra "node" process running. Close Resource Explorer. Check Task Manager or Activity Monitor and look for node. If one is running, kill it. Start Resource Explorer.

Any other suggestions?

Renamed the data base, reset preferences to manual and external chrome, ran CCS as administrator and got the same results though a new data base was not created.

Tried the same though ran CCS not as administration and got the same results.
  • In reply to Tom Allen1:

Uninstalled CCS, restarted, reinstalled CCS and let CCS start-up and got the same results.

Renamed the log file and restarted CCS and got the same results.

Renamed the log file and changed proxy to "manual" and web browser to "external chrome" and got the same results.

    Any other ideas?

    Any new ideas?

  • In reply to C D:

I am new to ccs myself so I am reluctant to suggest something that I haven't tried myself or that might be incorrect advice. I have no idea what your issue may be. I would start by making sure your firewall is not blocking connections from ccs. Check if it can contact the update server. Check the logs and maybe use wireshark to see if there are any clues in the traffic. Note that you can install packages directly tirex is not strictly necessary to start your development.
  • In reply to Tom Allen1:

    I'm running win10.

Where and how do I check my firewall to start checking out the various connections?
  • In reply to C D:

Use Google and the win10/Webroot forums. If you are struggling with admin mode /firewall setup then I'm not sure how you will be able to handle a complex product like ccs. Developing and debugging an embedded Rtos project is not trivial. Why not just install the packages manually and ignore the tirex issue for now? If you can't manage a manual install why not use energia cloud as a simpler dev environment.

Where are the directions to install CCSv8?

One would think that CCSv8 would simply install correctly.
  • In reply to C D:

Unstalled CCS, restarted then reinstalled CCS via "Run as Administrator" and allowed CCS access to my private network via the one firewall install query.

    Still having the same problem.

Where is the SDK for the MSP-EXP432P4111? The "Download SDK" for this board does not appear to be working:
    www.ti.com/.../launchpads.html

    In reply to C D:

The MSP432P4111 is part of this SDK: www.ti.com/.../SIMPLELINK-MSP432-SDK
I tried the downloads for Windows, Linux and Mac. All seem to be working.

I see what you mean with the Download SDK link on that LaunchPad page though. Doesn't appear to be a link at all. I will pass that on to the LaunchPad team.
