CCS/LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1: CCS and Resrouce Explorer fail to import/discover SimpleLink Installation simplelink_cc26x2_sdk_2_30_00_34__win.zip

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I've tried to import the SimpleLink examples for the LaunchPad CC26x2R two different ways and they both fail.

First, I tried clicking on the "Configure Resource Explorer to discover examples, documentation and generates a resource package" link on the home screen of Resource Explorer in CCS.  It seemed to add the resource just fine and it showed a bunch of examples.  But I can't import those examples into the Project Explorer.  When I click the "Import the example project into CCS" link, a dialog box pops up and disappears way to fast for me to read it.  But nothing appears in Project Explorer.  See the image below.

Second, I followed the directions on the wiki http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Resource_Explorer

agent to do this.  I would really like to be able to use this LaunchPad and not spend more time running in circles.

Thanks,

Mike

    Michael,

That wiki page is for Resource Explorer Classic. It is an older version of Resource Explorer. It is not going to work very well with new software packages like the SimpleLink SDKs.

Does your PC have internet access? We should be able to get the newer Resource Explorer to discover the package but it would need to access the internet to download the metadata to display it properly.

If the PC does not have an internet connection then at this time we won't be able to get Resource Explorer to display it properly. You can use the CCS Project Import wizard to import any of the examples. It will be a very long list but they will show up.

    Regards,
    John

    Hello John,

Yes, I have internet access. How do I load CC2642R1 example code into CCS Project Explorer to start using the LaunchPad?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Mike,

From the View menu in CCS select "Resource Explorer".  Note that there should be both a Resource Explorer and Resource Explorer Classic listed.  If there is not then you may be using an old version of CCS.

Under software select the CC26x2 SDK.

If you see the little green arrows then it is all setup and ready to go.  If not then go over to the right and side and click the download button and select Download and install.

Once that is done you can browse the examples and select the one you want.

Then go back over to the right and click the button to import the example into CCS.

After that you will see the example project in Project Explorer.

    Regards,

    John

    Hi John,

Thank you for your detailed instructions. Because of this I found the root of my problem. I had an old CCS installation. I reinstalled CCS, followed the instructions for the LaunchPad, and I was able to alter, build, and flash example code that ran properly on the hardware.

    Thanks for your help!
    Mike
