CCS/TM4C123GH6PZ: Unable to flash/program the MCU using uniflash

Dear TI,

Customer is using TI Tiva controller TM4C123GH6PZ17 and they are unable to debug the code due to the error. PFA attached error Info.

We are able to erase the MCU using uniflash. but when we try to flash .hex or .out file we are getting the error CORTEX M4_0: CAN’T RUN TARGET (ERROR-1268@0X11090001) DEVICE IS LOCKED UP IN HARD FAULT OR IN NMI.

We had tried flashing TI example code still error persist. We are using Code Composer Studio v7 IDE and TI XDS110 debug probe.

Kindly check and let us know how to resolve the error.

Muthu,

Can you try setting the option to reset the device prior to program loading:

However I think the error is happening before that action could be performed.

You could also try running the debug port unlock. Same options page just further down.

The error message implies that the device is in a state that is preventing the debugger from accessing it.

Dear John,

We tried to unlock the debug port using uniflash. but it showing error as "Module Closed".

Please help to resolve. i have attached schematic FYR.EM_Electronix_SCHEMATIC1.pdf

Muthu,

Are you sure the crystal frequency setting is appropriate for the device you are trying to flash? Also, your schematic diagram shows a hard pull down on TRST of 2.2kΩ, while the recommended is 4.7kΩ according to our reference diagram:

Also, what Uniflash version are you running?

Dear Rafael,

Actually we tried as per your advice then it works fine. But its not completely resolved the issue is repeating after some time, when we try to debug it showing the same error as "Device is Lockedup in Hard Fault or in NMI". Please give the permanent solution to avoid this issue.

What would be the reason, if the device is lockedup?

Thanks for reporting back the details. There are several threads that contain information about this error, which can be originated either from the hardware or from the firmware loaded to the target device.
