CCS/MSP-EXP430F5529LP: Cannot load examples in TI Resource Explorer, tried many things

Part Number: MSP-EXP430F5529LP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430WARE

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I have been working with CCS/ MSP430 for a few years, but I am still a bit of a "newbie"... I recently downloaded CCS 9.3.0 .

Whenever I try to import an example for my board from the MSP430WARE, I get the following:  "The package needs to be installed locally to import projects. Use the package context menu or the Package Manager to install the package."

So I go up to MSP430WARE and choose Install from the three dots on the right, which I guess is the 'package context menu'. The Internet cannot tell me where or what the Package Manager is. Can you?

When I choose Install, I see:

I've tried a few different locations. When I click on this, I get:

I *think* I have the Tasks window open to the right there, but when I click OK, nothing appears in the Task or Progress windows.

I did try manually downloading MSP430WARE version 3.80.07.00 . I put it in both c:/ti (where my installation is) and c:/ti/ccs930. And it worked. ONCE. I was able to import a single example. The next time I started the program, no dice.

Now I manually downloaded and installed (using its own executable) MSP430WARE version 3.80.08.1. It is in c:/ti/msp.  CCS 9.3.0 seemed to recognize and install it after startup-- but even after TWO restarts, I am having the same issue.

What am I overlooking? I'm going mad here.

I'm running 64 bit Windows 7.

  • Bryan,

Lets see if we can figure out what is going on.  The Task view that Resource Explorer is referring to is one inside the tool itself.  It usually shows up as a round progress meter to the left of "All Filters".

In your case it seems to be showing an exclamation mark.  Could you try clicking on the exclamation mark to see what it says.

    Regards,

    John

  • Bryan,

I think there is something going on with one of the Resource Explorer servers.  The team is looking into it now.  This could be what is causing the issues you are having.

    Regards,

    John

  • Thanks for your reply. Watching this clock/ progress bar in the spot you indicated helped me determine when it actually finished and I avoided interrupting it. Not sure why it wasn't working before, if it was bad timing on my part or another problem, but it seems to be working now! Thanks. -Bryan
