Hi Sir,

How much Cu Weight(Oz.) is considered for the secondary turns inside Planar Transformer in the 3 layers of LMG5200 48V to 1V/40A Single Stage Converter Reference Design board.

Any isolation specification is considered from primary to secondary.

  • Hello,

    The internal secondary layers are 3oz. copper. The top and bottoms layers are 2oz copper that gets plated up close to 3oz.

    The insulation is 1.42mm between primary and secondary layers.

    Hi Nesh,
    In general we will keep the current density under 2~5Amp per mm^2. You're right, the dT of copper is the point of consideration. It also complex to calculated the capability of current in copper. Because the variation factors from environment temperature, cooling way, structure... will impact the dT in copper.
