WEBENCH® Tools: Never ending loop of redirects while starting Webench

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS56339

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello, I have pretty annoying problem. Sometimes (90% :) when Webench is initially openned, it ends up in end-less loop of redirects. I can see "Try Google Chrome for a better experience." (huh ? :) When I try to open existing design it loops:

xxx://webench.ti.com/power-designer/switching-regulator/customize/[NUMBER] and xxx://webench.ti.com/power-designer/switching-regulator

If I open WB by 'new' it loops only second address above. But Use Google is being visible/hidden/,...It loops and loops and loops. Sometimes helps when I login before, sometimes not. Usually help closing WB window and open another way. At times I have to close browser completly and try again (all cookies are deleted on close). Thus there are no cooikes at first open.

I am using updated FF with W2K.

Any idea ? Or this si just hard way to switch everone to (Don't be) Evil's browser ? :)

Than you

  • Hi Lada,

WEBENCH is not designed exclusively for Chrome browser - it can also be used on other browsers like Firefox and IE10. The team does test the tool on other browsers to make sure all basic functionality works as expected - but Chrome is used as the platform of choice during the tool development and hence more thoroughly tested in Chrome and hence the recommendation.

We suggest you, please give a try by updating the Firefox browser in the recent versions of the operating system and also please try in a different system. Please let us know if you are still facing the issue.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Praveen

  • Hello, sorry I made typo (ofrouce) - not W2K, but W7 :)

W10 is not solution for us. Complete company moved to Linuxes due W10 stability and it's "random internal life". There are few W7 machines sitting on some linux-unsupported hardaware and will be moved to virtuals in future, when W7 support will finally end.As far I know, it will not end on 1/2020, even we will have to pay for every machine. Right now, only updated FF and W7 is the only combination for me. FF and W7 are updated.

    Thx

    R.

  • Hi Lada,

I have forwarded your query to the concerned team. The team will get back to you as soon as possible.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hi Lada,

We are working on this issue. We will keep you updated on the same.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hi Lada,

Can you please confirm if you are still running into issues today? There were some login changes being made earlier and we want to be sure if the issue is only related to browser versions and not anything else.

If you are still running into issues, can you please share the following?

    1. Please share a screenshot of the Firefox version you are trying out the tool with using https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/find-what-version-firefox-you-are-using

    2. What are the input conditions you used for design? VinMin, VinMax, Vout, Iout and any advanced inputs you may have added.

    Regards,

    Amod

  • Hello, yes... But it seems something was changed, because some 'ways' to open WB works. Actually this clean way failures:

    1. enter ti.com

    2. menu: Design -> Webench

    3. Try button

    4. Agree and view designs (just enter default vals, no change)

    5. select first (TPS56339) in default sort order

    6. customize design

    7. I see login page with URL: xxx://myportal.ti.com/portal/dt?provider=TIPassLoginSingleContainer&lt=myti&j5=2&j3=1&goto=https%3A%2F%2Ffedid.ext.ti.com%3A443%2Ffedout%2Fpingcidprd%2Findex.cgi%3FRelayState%3DWoc1nLsvYVq7AXTOwK6BifuF5rPMca%26SAMLRequest%3DnVLPT8IwFP5Xlt4HgwUIL7CEbEhm1EycHrw1pYTq2o6%252BDvG%252Ftx1gdhAOntr0fe%252F7lc6QyqqGRWN3as33DUcbvHGDQqs5GfYiEuTZnPBD9rkcD3fjUMb3z6vRbr9cVgexqj9eHQCx4blCS5V1O9FgGg6iMJqUgxhGMcTT3ng0eSfBUVYKodWbk8Yo0BQFgqKSI1gGL4vHB3CSUBttNdMVSWYeDa2A6ezfXqeI3FgXgCQeVvIjRW%252FPNJIr664M0jyDYp3N%252Bh3%252Bk1gNT44wzwpdCfYd3Gkjqb2t51%252FEJty2ULCGKhROiPQvjOde%252BaZtOdXK8qMNUi1ragT6op1FZi9xu6i0cmnWfPvf8FdhDJinds%252BFO7602RSudc6cy9InqLWx53r%252B8pOcZley%252FU673yr5AQ%253D%253D

    8. valid login entered (with remember me on, even on close all cookies are deleted on close)

    9. never ending loop :)

    xxx://webench.ti.com/power-designer/
    xxx://webench.ti.com/power-designer/switching-regulator/create/customize?device=TPS56339

Shorter URL taktes longer to redirct (seems some JS running). Longer URL is visible for half sec or so.

And in the meantime before I wrote this, redirecting screen changed to "Error": xxx://webench.ti.com/power-designer/error

    Oops!

Sorry, an error occured with our website and someone has been notified to take a look.

If you wish, I can send form datas from FF console.

About window says: Firefox Quantum 69.0.1 (64 bits). DO you really need screenshot ? :)

All request was made before 14:01 UTC with IP 188.175.141.26.

  • Thanks Lada. This is a very detailed reply and we appreciate you sharing all the steps and firefox version!

Can you please confirm if you are running this on windows 7 machine or a linux machine? Also, can you please try clearing your browser cache and see if that resolves the issue?

I downloaded v69.0.2 quantum on win 10 machine just now and did not run into issues i.e. I was able to get to the TPS56339 design without issues. I am running this information by software team to see if we need anything else for debugging your issue. I will keep you updated.

  • Hello, I am running W7 with all updates except ones known as telemetry only. I have installed many dev things and some CADs. But nothing special. No antivirus here (what a useless thing :) but I am running strongly configured firewall (Comodo) and spyware detection SW (SpyBot). No of them access browser itselfs (eg. inject JS to pages etc.).

I have no similar problem on sites like google, microsoft, ...  I tried to clean complete cache - and still getting the same result.

If you wish, I can send complete looped post data.

  • Thanks Lada. I have couple more requests to help debug this issue.

    1. Can you try to uninstall and reinstall firefox on your machine and see if that resolves the issue?

    2. Is it possible to try google chrome browser on your win 7 machine and let us know if you run into issues there?

    Regards,

    Amod

  • Hi Lada,

We didn't hear back from you. Please let us know more about the issue you are facing as mentioned above. It will help us to debug.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Praveen

  • Hello, sorry for delay :)

I tried to reinstall FF and create new empty profile. Just first run I tried everything above - and I got same result. I have no chance to try Chrome, because it will take a lott of work to clean system from 'googleupdate.exe' :) Part of Chrome remains active even you completly uninstall that bloatware :(

Btw. when I click in email on link to this thread and click on reply, everything (login form, backward redirect) works w/o any problem.

    R.

  • Hi Lada,

The team is working on it. We will keep you updated.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Praveen

  • Hi, today I found small functional behaviour, which may help.

I am normally loged in. I am on page "WEBENCH® designs". And see WB design list.

Click on "Open design" button - opens old flash version :)

Click on design name opens WB tool in NEW window *and* cycle (it doesn't open login form, just cycle).

When I open new tab and paste URL xxx://webench.ti.com/power-designer/ (this URL cycles in above case) WB normally open. I just doesn't see selected design, but 'empty' startup (Select • Customize • Simulate • Export). I can click here on My Designs in right top corner. Openning design works w/o any problem.

  • Hi Lada,

We will forward your observations to the concerned team.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Praveen

  • Hi Lada,

Our software team responsible for the tool looked into the issue but could not reproduce the issue or identify the root cause. We understand your reluctance to use Google Chrome, but at this point that is the recommended browser for this application. Please consider using other browsers which are acceptable for you – you may try out IE / Opera. You can also look at Microsoft’s Edge browser preview version which is based on Chromium, so it should function same as Chrome.“

    Thanks & Regards,
    Praveen
