TIDA-01515: Application customization tool settings for controlling BQ4050

Part Number: TIDA-01515

Hi

I have a design that uses a combination of TPS65987, BQ25703 and BQ4050 as a power bank. I have followed the schematic shown in TIDA-01515 for the layout, but was wondering if you have any information on controlling the BQ4050 with the TPS65987. I have read through SLVAE18.pdf, which gives details of controlling the BQ25703, but it doesn't have any info about the BQ4050.

Thanks

  • Hello Laurence,

Unfortunately we do not have any document for the compatibility of the BQ4050. However, the approach would be the same as the BQ25703. Using the GUI, you would have the PD controller send specific I2C commands to the BQ4050 based on specific interrupt events. Would need to read through BQ4050 datasheet, determine what registers/bits you need to write to, and correlate those to some trigger event from the drop down list.

Hope this helps answer your question.

  • Hi Adam

Thanks for your reply. I thought this may be the case. I asked in hope though as the information in the SLVAE18 has saved so much time.

    Many thanks
