WEBENCH® Tools/TPS565201EVM-858: Eval board performance doesn't match Webench efficiency results

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

I'm using the TPS565201EVM-858 set up for 2.5V output with a 12V input. The 2.2uF inductor on the board is a Wurth 744311220, also a selection using Webench. I have minimal cable loss, but as shown, the supply falls 2 to 3% short of the Webench simulation.

Is there a problem with the eval board or is the Webench simulation results incorrect?

The team is taking a look at this TPS565201 WEBENCH model issue. It's certainly confusing because both EVM board and your shared design make use of the same inductor.

Hi John,

WEBENCH results only provides good estimation for efficiency. However there might be variation upto ±3% w.r.t actual bench results.

From your previous post, bench efficiency is down by 2-3% w.r.t WEBENCH plot. So this is expected.

When cascading supplies, +/-3% from each can throw calculations using Webench results way off. Comparing the simulation results to actual measured results, the Webench efficiency numbers in general look high. I'll factor that in by de-rating what is reported by 3% in the future.
