I purchased a CCDebugger along with a stack of other gear to do some development on the CC2640.

It came with a ribbon cable 10 way / 2 row 1.27mm (The small one not the 2.54mm one) this cable is faulty it has an intermittent short between pins one and 2.

Testing to confirm the short was performed multiple times using various male connectors on each end.

I have explored the TI website but found no information on what to do if I have received faulty goods. Could someone please point me in the right direction to get this sorted out?

I dont know where to buy one of these cables and I have priced up making one myself. as I can only buy this ribbon cable on a 30m reel, it will cost me more than $80 to make an adapter and a couple of weeks to wait for the part.

The worse news is that the short tripped the CC2640R2, this lit back up when I disconnected the ribbon cable and reconnected the USB. I haven't tested to see if the board is damaged yet but I suspect that it might be. And even worse, my custom-made board (the one that I need to develop on) may be damaged which is worth another $500! Hopefully not. But the worst bit for me is that I have dedicated the next month to develop this board. So very much hoping that I can get a replacement connector very quickly.

You need to use XDS110 or XDS100v3 to debug CC26XX devices.

Are you certain?
I was pretty sure that I should be able to use the CC2640R2 development board to load/debug a CC2640.
I still need to find how to get TI to replace the 10pin 1.27mm ribbon cable.

Debugger on LAUNCHXL-CC2640R2 is XDS 110 so it can be used for debugging other CC26xx devices. However, CC Debugger is not XDS110 so it cannot be used for debugging CC26xx devices.

First of all, you cannot use the CC Debugger to debug the CC2640. However, I guess you might need the ribbon cable to connect from a LP to your customer board for debugging.

I am trying to figure out if/how TI do replacements like this.

However, it might be faster to just order a new cable yourself. Should not be necessary to buy 30 m of cable:

No I am not trying to debug with the CC debugger, this was just the device which the faulty ribbon cable came with (I think... I also purchased 2 of the CC2640R2 dev boards, and a dev kit for the CC2640 (little black box with sensors in it) and a CC2541 "keyfob" dev kit with a CC2541-Dongle. ) Certainly among all of that was the faulty ribbon cable but I am pretty sure that it came with the CC Debugger along with a little PCB which connects the 1.25mm pitch connector to the CC's 2.54mm pitch connector (I think it says DBG_Connector)

I have not found anywhere that can get me a replacement cable for both a reasonable price and in a reasonable time frame. I have 3 weeks to do all of the development (there is much more than 3 weeks worth of work here) but I can't get past step 1 (connection) and don't have the budget to do much about it, which is pretty frustrating

I was told that by contacting TI Store you would normally get a replacement for kits etc. if there has been something wrong with them.

I was not able to find any direct way of contacting them, but please try the TI Live chat and see if they can help you:

Still no luck. I opened a case but after waiting for ages, they just closed it without any action. Any other Ideas?

This is getting really frustrating, I had one month dedicated to doing this job, so far, it has been more than 3 weeks and I have not been able to do a thing due to this faulty part and waiting on TI

I was told by the TI store that the order was almost a year old, so they wanted you to confirm that the address is still correct.

Hi, yes it took the best part of a year to get the prototype ready.

The address hasnt changed.
