CC1310: Power mode validation

Hello Ti,

We an nortos application with i2c,spi,uart and pwm interfaces, how to validate power modes(active,standby,idle and shutdown mode) ?

Is there anything need to be implemented in application to test these power modes?

Hi Shilpa,

As NoRTOS has no "idle" thread, you are responsible for invoking the power policy yourself. From that point, the same Power driver used in TI-RTOS is also used in NoRTOS, which means it always put you in the lowest possible power mode depending on power constraints.

Thanks for the information

We are observing when application is ruuning current is 13mA and after code stops running 6mA in CC1310 LAUNCHPAD

Code running in active mode, once code stops is it in standby mode or shutdown mode ?

Unless you explicitly request to put the device in to low-power mode (as described in the link above), you will remain in active mode even if not running code.

I would advice you to have a look at the pinStandby and pinShutdown example for measuring power consumption.

we tested by calling Power API, we are observing current as below

1.Active mode: 13mA

2. Power_idleFunc(): 3mA

3. Standby:sleep(10) : 3mA

4. Power_shutdown(0, 0) : 6mA

Is these are expected current on launchpad for corresponding power modes? Current value given in datasheet and our measured values are not matchng

Can you confirm measured values are expected or not

Hi Shilpa,

Those are not the expected values, you should expect < 1 uA in standby and even less in shutdown.
What example are you using to perform the measurements? Could you share a picture of your measurement setup?

I'm using spiffsexternal example.

After spi write I'm calling sleep(10) to goto standby mode, I'm observing current as 3mA

We are giving an external power source

Hi shilpa,

In order to measure the correct power consumption, you must remove the debugger headers. Have a look at this application note that describe how you can measure the power consumption:
