Error in CCS when importing CC3200.ccxml as a target configuration

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200, CC3200SDK

Hello:

I am encountering an error when importing the configuration file CC3200.ccxml into CSS for the CC3200 LaunchPad.

I carefully followed the instructions in the USER GUIDE for the CC3200 Launchpad, including starting from the beginning and reinstalling CSS.

The error the I’m getting is shown below:

Could someone provide some assistance with resolving this problem.   I tried creating a new configuration file for the wlan_station project and it appeared to be downloaded to the board, except port errors eventually occurred.

  • Hi William,

I am not able to see the image. Please attach again.

    Few questions:

    1) Did you Install cc3200 Device Support package from CCS 6.0.1 installer

    2) version of cc3200 support package. If it is 1.0.4, please use attached ccXML file and let me know if it solves your problem. This is recent update and requires update ccXML

    .6131.CC3200.zip

  • Good morning.  Thanks for getting back to me.

I just checked the CSS installer and under CC3200 Device Support it indicates that “All items are installed”.  Version 1.0.0.4 is installed.  (You mentioned 1.0.4, but I assume you meant 1.0.0.4.)

You said, “please use attached ccXML file and let me know if it solves your problem”.  I have tried using the file C:\ti\CC3200SDK\cc3200-sdk\tools\css_patch\CC3200.ccxml as per the instructions on pages 15-16 of the Getting Started Guide.  Should I be using some other ccxml file?  Or is does the one in the css_patch folder the correct one?

I was able to get the blinky and wlan_station to run by creating a new configuration without importing CC3200.ccxml  in the css_patch folder.   Specifically, I followed the instructions shown on slides 29-30 of the lab for the CCS Fundamentals Workshop for CC3200 for setting up a target configuration.

While the wlan_station project will sometimes load, I am getting lots of Port errors.  The most common error I get is

    Target Reset

Cortex_M4_0: Error: Debug Port error occurred.

Sometimes the project will execute and sometimes the project won’t load at all, but even when it runs I get errors like the one shown above.

Also, I haven’t been able to run the Out of Box project from CCS.   I get even more errors with the Out of Box Project than with blinky and wlan_station.

Here is the screen shot of CCS when I try to use file C:\ti\CC3200SDK\cc3200-sdk\tools\css_patch\CC3200.ccxml.  It seems to be trying to use the Stellaris board rather than the CC3200.

  • I'm having a similar issue. The cc3200.ccxml file refers to a file drivers/stellaris_cs_icepick.xml

this does not exist in the required directory along with the other required xml files. When I load the cc3200.ccxml file, it gets a red cross on it.

Have I missed something crucial in the install? Note I already had CCS installed for the tiva series. I can build the CC3200 projects with no issue, so I think I have everything loaded.

  • bump!

Still no solution to this problem!

  • @Russel,

How to set target configuration is mentioned at the Getting Started Guide at page 13.

  • i ended up re-installing ccs6 and that loaded the missing files. I dare say it failed initially since i already had ccs6 loaded some time ago then loaded the cc3200 stuff recently.

  • do't import the CC3200.ccxml.
    make a new one.
select "New Target Configuration" --> select CC3200
    And It is work
