BTool error

you can't open COM12 when you use btool? try to press ok and unplug the dongle. Then put the dongle back and select new device and open COM12

Do you run HostTest on your CC2540 USB dongle?

i tried as u said but its still giving me same error .....y so?

for running any code first i must select com port right?

If you want to connect Btool with CC2540 USB dongle, you have to use CC Debugger to download HostTest application to your dongle first . You can find prebuilt HostTest hex file CC2540_USBdongle_HostTestRelease_All.hex under C:\Texas Instruments\BLE-CC254x-1.4.1.43908\Accessories\HexFiles.

but im getting that above error without connecting USB Dongle also.....
so it means problem is not with software inside Dongle right?

If I remember correctly, the default FW on CC2540 USB dongle is BLE sniffer and BTool will get this error when dongle runs wrong FW.

ok i'll try it but before that i also want to read signals from On Board accelerometer located on keyfob so any suggestions how to approach.....
im new here so plz need ur bit help....

If you have Smartphone, you can try to download SensorTag App to test it.

yeah i hav iphone 5s and i downloaded sensor Tag App......
and i could detect my device and
in accelerometer it's showing me x,y,z positions so that's it?
or can i do further more

ok now i want to see the part of code where cc2541 sends the data of accelerometer over bluetooth to the phone or pc...
so wer can i find the code for it?

but still im getting that error.......wat could be the reason ?

I have no idea why it doesn't work. Do you use 115200 as Baudrate? If it still doesn't work, I suggest you to download BLE device monitor from processors.wiki.ti.com/.../BLE_Device_Monitor_User_Guide and use it instead of Btool.

Accelerometers
The keyfob contains a 3-axis accelerometer. The accelerometer profile provides a means for the keyfob to send the accelerometer data over the air to the USB Dongle. Just like the battery profile, the accelerometer profile contains characteristic values that relate to its operation and use. One characteristic of the accelerometer profile is the accelerometer enable. This value must be changed from 0 to 1 in order to turn the accelerometer on the keyfob on. The UUID of the accelerometer enabler is 0xFFA1. Before the value of the characteristic can be changed, the “handle” of the characteristic value must first be discovered. Every attribute, including characteristic values, have a “handle”, which essentially is the address of the attribute in the server. To discover the handle of the accelerometer enabler, select the option “Discover Characteristic by UUID”. Enter “A1:FF” in the “Characteristic UUID” box, and click the “Read” button. A discovery request gets sent over the air from the dongle to the keyfob, and a response gets sent back from the keyfob to the dongle with the return data value. A 5-byte value “0A 21 00 A1 FF” should get displayed in the “Value” box (it is recommended to set the format to “Hex”).

1. Basically, BLE Device Monitor is similar to Btool so you can use the same steps to enable accelerometer on KeyFob.
2. You should run KeyFob demo example in BLE stack v1.4.1.

u mean in keyfob c2541 the program must be keyfob demo right?

one problem occurred ......i programmed keyfob using flash programmer i.e simpleBle peripheral program into it......
now to burn Keyfob demo code i must use IAR embedded workbench right?

There's a prebuilt CC2541_keyfob_SimpeBLRPheral.hex in Accessories/HexFiles and you can download it using Flash Programmer to test.

but in this code there is no option to enable Accelerometer ....

Yes, you are correct. CC2541_keyfob_SimpleBLEPeripheral.hex only runs SimpleBLEPeripheral on CC2541 KeyFob so it doesn't enable accelerometer. Only KeyFob example enables accelerometer.

i hav keyfob project in IAR Embedded Workbench , so u do u hav any idea how to download from IAR into Hex format
to program keyfob c2541 ?

Go to IAR Project->Options->Linker->ExtraOutput and change to intel-extended to generate hex file.

it 's already in intel-extended mode .......so wat will be the next up ? wer ill find my hex file?
