compile cc2538dk example with CCS

Is it possible to program CC2531 dongle without CC-Debugger - but using SmartRF06 Evaluation board: there is 10-pin ARM Cortex Debug Connector that is similar to the one, situated on CC2531.

no, unfortunately you can't use the SmartRF06EB with 8051 SoC such as the CC2530/1. This can be found in the User's Guide - http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/swru321a/swru321a.pdf - chapter 8 "FAQ":

Q3 Can I use the SmartRF06EB to debug an 8051 SoC such as CC2530?
A3 No, you cannot debug an 8051 SoC using the SmartRF06EB.

Fortunately the CC2531 was delivered already preprogrammd.

In any way is the CC debuger the only solution allowing to flash CC2531 ?

I tried to use Code Blocks. How to add new source file to project.

I created .c file at the same location as cc2538dk-demo and then tried to add it to roject.

Project-->Add Files

Nothing happened: I still don't see new file in the project tree.

How to proceed ?

The file was added, but it isn't taken into account during project building.

Here is its "appearnce" in the project (which is different from demo example):

I haven't tried this, but you definitely need to change/add the file into the makefile instead only adding it via the IDE. You can try to google it with e.g. "contiki add new source file", and would find something like this:

My question was rather concerned the using of "CodeBlocks".

How the project file cc2538dk-demo.cbp was created - from the scratch, or from some other source.

In both cases is there a possibility to modify it being inside of "CodeBlocks" - almost every IDE tool allow this.

In the code::blocks project I created, i was using a custom makefile setting. So Code::Blocks will not modify any makefile if you are adding/removing source files.

If properly understood you, I cannot proceed any project modification inside of Code::Blocks. This tool serves only to simplify code modification/compiling in already existing sources and nothing else?

Other question - how you generated .cbp file, is there some utility to do it ... it looks like .xml format.

it is something like that. I used Code::Blocks just because it helps me to browse the files, and also make things easier to search for function or variable declarations, etc. I made it by creating a new CB project and adding the file one by one manually.

Actually I am in the process to make the debugger running, but there are just so many limitations both from the GDB debugger and Code::Block sides which frustrate me :-(

Somehow debugging works but again with a lot of limitation (breakpoint needs to be typed in manually, next instruction not possible, etc...)

So you created it entirely in Code::Blocks ? I mean you added all files using Code::Block menu Project-->Add Files ?

If this is the case I don't understand why I cannot repeate this. When I try Project-->Add Files, the tool put it in the strange "quasi-folder" Sources, but not under CC2538dk (please, see the picture). Where is the problem ?

yes, all added source files will be first assigned to either the "Sources" or "Others" project folders. You need to manually move (by doing drag-and-drop) the files to the virtual folders. This might help you:

Unfortunately "build" gave errors. In the SPI_WRITE macro there is another macro SPI_TXBUF (source of error), that is defined in ..\contiki-2.7\cpu\cc2538\spi-arch.h. This .h file is attached to project (please see the picture below, yellow marker). Why it isn't taken into account ?

Hello Leo,

I have still problems while trying to modify Code::Block project.

In my source file I added reference to ".h" file that contains function I use in my source:

The name of function is servreg_hack_init() and its declaration is inside of the following header: "contiki2.7/apps/servreg-hack/servreg-hack.h".

Here is my "include":

#include "../apps/servreg-hack/servreg-hack.h"

I also added into the project the header and source file with corresponding function (please, see the image below).

Curiously, but source of function isn't seen by project: when I try to compile, following message appears:

CuIPv6_HOST.c(.text.process_thread_button_process+0x2a)||undefined reference to `servreg_hack_init'

Where I've been mistaken ?
