CC2500 frequency synthesizer calibration

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2500

Hi,

The datasheet of cc2500 mentions that the 'frequency synthesizer must be calibrated regularly'.It does not mention how often. The chip can be set for auto calibration on entering/leaving RX/TX modes from IDLE states. If i need to put chip in TX mode always this autocalibration will not occur. I do not want to set the chip to IDLE state after each packet which  would require me to enter TX state every time i want to transmit some data.

I need to know how often this need to be calibrated if i want only TX and want to leave it in TX mode.

Also I would like to know why this need to be calibrated often even though there is a PLL and an external crystal.

or am i missing something here ? I don't need to change channels while operating
