Hello,

data transmissions over bandwidth limited channels DO SOFFER from a big problem named: Intersymbol Interference (aka ISI).

Can anybody tell me how this problem is solved in the CC1200 transceiver?

Please use SmartRFStudio to generate the register setiings for your data rate. You may start with the standard settings which has higher data rate than your required data rate. Yes, BW will affect the ISI.

The viterbi decoder handles the ISI.

The datasheet doesn't mention at all how the ISI problem is solved. That's why I asked.

Does the CC1200 transceiver rely on the preamble sequence to train the FIR filter coefficients of the Viterbi algorithm?

No. Basically the receiver knows which values a '1' -> '1', '1' -> '0' and so on should have for the programmed modulation formats. The incoming waveform is then compared with this. From this it's possible to see which transition the incoming signal does even with ISI present.
