CC1200 Debugging?

I am laying out the components for a new board that I am trying to build and I am thinking about incorporating the CC1200 Sub-1Ghz IEEE802.15.4 module. I will be using a MSP430 MCU and will be purchasing a MSP430 Flash Emulation Tool. However, I want to know if the CC1200 has to be flashed once I purchase it off the shelf or does it work right out of the box? I'm trying to figure this out so that I can limit my board to only having to use the one debugger tool for in system programing.
