CC1200 -38dBm Tx power output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1200

How do I configure the CC1200 for -38dBm Tx power output as specified in the spec sheet (rev D)

The user guide contains contradictory information on page 96 indicating that the lowest power output is -16dBm which fits the equation value range specified for PA_CFG1. I see no reference to coarse steps to power output in this guide.

Could someone clarify the situation?

I'd be also interested to find out what the special power levels 0x00-0x02 are.

Thanks in advance.

  • The 'special' power levels gives low output power. The accuracy of these power levers are +/- a few dB.

    0x00 gives ~-70 dBm, 0x01 gives ~-32 dBm, 0x02 gives ~-26 dBm
  • Thanks for the quick response
  • Hi,

You can use the SmartRFStudio to generate the Register settings for the required power level and for the required configuration also.

Yes, CC1200 can be set to as low as -40dBm in coarse configuration.

There are 2 steps in coarse confuration, which are -24dBm and -40dBm. These can be seen on SmartRFStudio.

The special settings for PA_POWER_RAMP = 0x01 corresponds to -40dBm, 0x02 corresponds to -24dBm and 0x00 corresponds to -17.5dBm. These values can be verified on SmartRFStudio.

    Thanks,
