Hello there !

I'm trying to make use of the CC2650EM on a SmartRF06EB to tame 6LoWPaN with the help of Contiki OS. I'm able to compile and load on the EM the cc26xx-demo furnished within Contiki, using the Flash Programmer v2 software on Windows (although I develop with Ubuntu...).

My problem is the following : I'm using this software to "monitor" the USB-serial port (I'm connected via USB to the EB). While the image seems to be working quite fine (the LEDs and buttons respond as expected), I observe nothing on the serial port. The board is correctly mounted and recognized by Windows 7, and the TI XDS100v3 Channel B is rightly linked to one of my COM port. However, I'm unable to see anything on the corresponding serial port...

What could I have done / am I doing wrong ?

There are UART pins on right-bottom corner of SmartRF06EB. I suggest you try to connect your PC RS232 to those pins to see if it works.

That's what I've been trying today with this cable. But when I try and use Minicom under Ubuntu, I'm still seeing no output of any kind...

I would suggest you using scope to check TX pin on SmartRf06EB first. See if there is signal output from TX pin first.

Got it working ! We suspected that the wiring of our FTDI cable wasn't the right one for the EB, we changed that. We're now able to see things, woo-hoo !

Would you have any idea of why it wasn't working through serial-USB ? (just to build some experience, I'm gonna stick with the UART)

I suspect that TX and RX line need to reverse on FTDI cable. Anyway, it is good to know it works now.

I face the same issue, but I am not sure about the kind of cable to use.
is it the same that I use for flashing ?
any picture available ?

Hey Gilles !

It's not the same one as for flashing. You'd use an FTDI cable such as this one. Be careful thought, you may have to switch the TX and RX pins of the cable in order for it to work with the board. Oh, and you'll need some kind of male-to-male adapter to connect the cable to the "holes" on the right-bottom of the board.

then, I use the smartRF06 motherboard with CC2650 plugged with, and it works well!
