Wilink8 power consumption

The datasheet talks about a 850mA peak power every 5 minutes.
This is more than 600mA above normal operation of the chip.
I see no mention of which rail gets this peak power (1.8V or 3.3V)
I also see no mention anywhere about how much time this peak last.
This is critical to calculate the power supply.
I am now very close to the PMIC limits of 2A at 5V when I add up all maximum power consumption of every circuits.
Also, is there a software control and/or notification available when this happens so I can shutdown something else?
  • Hi,

    What module are you using?
The requirement worse case is for MIMO ( ~600 mA ) at continuous TX on extreme temp from VBAT.

There is also calibration current for ~100uS reaching ~850 mA.

    Gigi Joseph.

  • We are planning to use the WL1831MOD to limit the system power consumption.  The questions were about the calibration current.  Since this calibration process happens every 5 minutes, we want to know if we have any control on the timing of that calibration event to make sure we turn off other devices when this happens.

    Thanks,
