    Hi Kiran,

    Your understanding about WiFi Direct is correct.
    Regarding your question about two laptops communicating with each other using WiFi direct, it depends on the chipset/driver used at the laptop side.

    We have some good demos at: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/WiFi_Direct_Configuration_Scripts
    which gives the instructions to perform WiFi Driver connections. This demo is relevent for AM335x(Linux) with the WL8 chipset.
