CC2592 Range Extender

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2592, CC2590, CC2591

Will there be a firmware update that allows the use of the recently released CC2592 range extender? Would I need new firmware to use the chip? Is there any reason to use the CC2590/1 over the CC2592?

Thanks,

Pedro

  • Hi Pedro,

From a configurator/firmware perspective there is no difference between the CC2591 and CC2592. Use the CC2591.

Due to ETSI regulations, you can not exceed what can be output from CC85xx+CC2590 in Europe. Using the CC2592 and then backing down the output power will be energy inefficient vs. the CC2590, but there might be a small improvement in sensitivity with the CC2592 combinations (and also slightly easier to design with) so in the end it is up to you.

There might also be price differences between these devices. Please contact your TI account or distribution for this.
