Independent, PurePath Wireless Audio Links in the Same room

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC8530

Hello,

We have developped a wireless phone unit using ce CC8530 and it works fine. (monophonic full duplex)

We have also made on the same idea  a headset unit using the CC8530 (stereo M>S and mono S>M)

We need to use about 12 units like that in the same room. As each unit use 4 channels at 20% among the 18 existing channels. This configuration seems to use about 50% of the complete allowed frequency band.

Have you any informations or recommendations for the use of some wifi channels in the same place?

Il i want to use more headsets, does the slac compression helps for reducing the channel occupation?

As the SLAC gives about 1/3 of bit rate does that means we can have three time more users in the same room?

Thank you for your help

Bernard

  • Hi Bernard,

If all 18 channels are available then it's a don't care which WiFi channel is used. The adaptive frequency hopping will work equally good for all.

For all practical purpose, you will need to consider a single PPW network, within one timeslot, will fully occupy one of the 18 channels. The SLAC vs. PCM will slightly change the length of the timeslot if the rest of the configuration is the same. Other changes to configuration might also change the timeslot length. The adaptiveness will be able to detect and try to stay away from other PPW networks as far as possible, but in the end you will end up being limited to somewhere between 3-5 networks in a dense environment that does not have a strong presence of a other interferer.
