Need input on PurePath for a quick POC

PurePath community,

I am a prototype design engineer working in a specialized area of pro sound accessory development -- I am behind schedule on a project where for a proof of concept by 26 July  I need a wireless line level audio link (CD quality audio) between two terrestrial locations approximately 1300' apart (line of sight).   I have noticed the PurePath products and I need to know if the demo boards including the optional range extender would be a good candidate for this 1000' (plus) remote application? Currently I have the need for only one channel audio link, but the two channel model would give us more options. This will be line level audio as would be found in broadcast and sound reinforcement systems (balanced or unbalanced).

Here is the quick start for the dev kit -- I was impressed by it's out-of-the-box capability a seemingly good fit for my application

CC85XXDK Quick Start Guide (Rev. A)

In a demo board video I found on PurePath earlier (sorry I cannot find it now) -- it seems that the demo system is  configured so you can quickly establish a line level audio connection between two demo boards however nowhere can I find the approximate range for such an application including the extender -- is 1300' line-of-sight possible (or further)?

I do like what I see about this product so far, and if it is a good fit I plan on further developing it into a marketable product however I have a short time to prepare for this POC so I am looking for something "plug and play" which doesn't require coding (or very minimal coding), and will provide a good solid and robust link CD quality audio link between two points.    I currently have no need to accept AES/EBU, TOSlink or other digital inputs -- only analog.

Basically I am taking the line level output from a 32-channel audio mixer and running it 1000' plus into a remote preamplifier and power amplifier -- currently this is being done with a direct copper analog connection (fully balanced).  For liability and to increase robustness and flexibility,  I hope to find a wireless solution.

this is for a specific market/problem, (and lower volume) than can be met by currently available solutions in this market area (with professional sound wireless connectivity products I have reviewed being cost prohibitive and too generic).

Please advise further, I appreciate your quick response and any recommendations.

I am also open to any other options TI may have that are better suited to this application.

Thank you!!!

  • Hi Ronan,

1300 ft is not possible even in line of sight. I would say 100 meters roughly out of the box and perhaps slightly more with some tuning. A lot of the tricks in this post will help:

I've seen ~200 meters for a mono SLAC link using 2 Mbit mode.
