Hello,

I'm using CC2541 to communicate between my cell phone and external microcontroller . However, I also want to use and program the inbuilt microcontroller of CC2541 and make use of its digital I/O pins. Can CC2541 continue communicating fine with the phone when I have connected it to external microcontroller and also using it's inbuilt microcontroller?

My concern is that would mess up the I2C communication since CC2541 would be acting as slave device for Bluetooth communication while the microcontroller inside it would be acting as a master to this slave device.

Also, if this is possible, can I use just the smartRF Flash Programmer to program it or do I need anything else as well.

To program CC2541 you need CC Debugger and SmartRF Flash Programmer software. But to build a project and generate .hex/.bin file you need IAR IDE.

Thanks for the reply. I'm still not sure if what I'm trying to do will create any problems in communication with the phone.

The way I have it set up is that CC2541 is used for communication between my phone and an external microcontroller. However, I also want to utilize the inbuilt microcontroller in CC2541 to do some basic operations. In that scenario both the external microcontroller and the inbuilt microcontroller would be acting as master for CC2541. Can this be done?

I didn't get your question exactly, but I think it should work as I2C is multi-master bus.
