Will Gen 1 Sensortag be obsoleted?

Hi,

I've just seen that there is a new Sensortag system based on the CC2560 available - which looks pretty interesting. My question is whether the original Sensortag based upon the CC2541 will continue to be sold and supported? I'm using this in some demo systems and if it is going to disappear from stock or be obsoleted I'd probably want to go and buy a small stock.

Hi Ross,

TI has not announced any plans to end of life (EOL) the CC2541 Sensor Tag. As inventory does sometimes change, I encourage you to place your order based on your need / schedule.

Hi,

It looks like the CC2541 Sensortag may have been EOL'd. Can you confirm that it's no longer possible to purchase directly from TI?

Hello Ross,

After checking with our Marketing team, the decision was made to EOL the CC2541 SensorTag kit. The recommendation is to use the CC2650STK (SensorTag 2.0) for new IoT designs. More details are at www.ti.com/.../cc2541dk-sensor. The CC2541 SensorTag can still be found on some distributor websites. As of press time, DigiKey is showing ~ 20 in stock.

For CC2541 development, please use the CC2541DK-MINI as a reference HW platform.
