Hi,

I am planning to buy this product (SimpleLink CC2650 STK) mainly because this has a digital microphone with other sensors. I already have the TI Keyfob and I would like to evaluate Sensor Tag for our product. From one of the forum, it was mentioned audio drivers are not yet ready.

I do not want audio to be transmitted via BTLE. I just require to access the decoded audio buffer from the microphone.

Basically, I would like to know the Sensor Tag provide support for this

Subha,

The sensorTag microphone has a PDM output that can be sampled with either the I2S or SPI module.
However we do not currently have drivers available to demonstrate this but we are working on it.
I will check with the BLE team for more information on when this is planned to be released.

Hi Svend,

Thanks a lot for your reply. I wanted to reply back yesterday but there had been "Internal Server Error" in TI Site.

Basically, I need to do some processing in PCM Audio buffer. From your mail, it seems microphone outputs PDM (Pulse Density Modulation) Audio.

Does sensor Tag supports converting of PDM to PCM and or provide a provision to access PCM Audio buffer.

Iam basically not a HW Engineer.

Any updates on this? Or a place for us to get started making our own driver? I am working on a research project and we are prototyping with the SensorTag. We are currently interested in getting data from the microphone.

1. Is there a way where we can get PCM output?
2. When will the audio drivers be ready? Or
3. Placeholder where we ca write our own drivers?

Hi,

The driver that we are going to release uses the I2S module to sample PDM data for the digital microphone. This driver will also include a library for PDM-to-PCM decimation so the output will be in PCM format.

We don't have the release scheduled at this point.

We really need a way to get the audio in, do you have any idea of the release date?. If not, can you point us to the right direction so we can write our own handler/driver.

Hi Johan,

We also need the audio driver for a current project, urgently. Otherwise we'll have to start writing a driver ourselves.

Is it possible to send us the current state of the driver?

If it's necessary we can request it though our TI AFE contact in Brazil. We are TI Design Partners.

If i saw this post before buying SensorTag, I wouldn't buy two SensorTags.
Please share audio microphone supporting plan. If you need community support please share all the source codes, you may get more help. How about making it open source?

We are working on it but the release date to I2S driver is not set in stone. The PDM driver according the the planned schedule, should be available by the end of this year.

PDM driver is already included in the newest TI-RTOS build, which can be downloaded here :

For our BLE stack 2.2, there will be audio project for sensortag available for everyone. The target release date is this summer.
