CC256x modm connecting with other MCU

It is possible to use the CC256x with any MCU that you wish.  Instead of AT Commands, you would be using HCI commands.  *Note: the PAN1232 website does say AT Commands are available.  I haven't seen examples of this though.

If you do not want to use a BT Stack, you would have to write your own initialization and parsing code. There are also serveal open source BT stacks of different sizes an flacours that you can look at, including the one for Atmel.  Most of these stacks are based on the MSP430 example for interfacing with the CC256x.

There are server all questions related to using HCI only commands in this forum.  There are also similar questions in forums for other MCUs since the CC256xmod is a very popular BT interface.

Thank you for the reply..sir i am confused about using whether using cc2541 or cc2564modn..help me in choosing the right part.. i have 8 analog sensors need to be sent data to the app..and using BLE. i have evaluating so many options like

1. CC2541 stand alone( needs recommendation on choosing which profile ,easy example to modify etc)

2.CC2541 in UART(SPP profile like transparent uart)+ any MCU ..but some where i heared spp not supported in BLE mode..but not clear...then app side implementation no idea about which profile to choose..need guidance

3.CC2564modn + MCU..--but seems very difficult for me to learn and deal with Full BT stack and at the same time, i dont have experience with Ti MCU's

my project time line just 20 days to 25 days(PCB design, firmware dev,APP dev with full functional prototype)..

please provide necessary inputs to choose and start with right choice from begining ,as no time to experiment all options..Thank u

In your situation, the only viable option would the MSP430 or Tiva MCU with the CC256x module or the CC254x MiniDK.  One of the CC256x Reference Designs could also work. You can then modify one of the code examples that reads sensor data to meet your requirements.

Just getting all the parts you need to build a board from scratch will take you close to a week.  Testing will take a few days also.  Unless have a full fledge board house at your disposal, programers plus RF testing equipment, your timeframe is a very tight one.

Another option would be to search the web for BLE developers and have one of them complete your task.

Thank u very much for your reply. sir, i have the CC254XMini-DK.but..not sure which example suits best for analog interface..and not sure about from where to start...

regarding  parts, i have enough parts ready to start working,and we have in house PCB design and fab facility..how ever .all the tasks has to be taken care by me only from schematic,PCB design,fabrication ,firmware every thing...by me only..and my self needs to get poineered in BLE bcz we our selves offering services to others..so..i dont have option of approaching another BLE developer  :-)

Hello N,

The KeyFob demo would be the best example to follow.  The KeyFob also has Port0 pins available that will allow you to connect analog sensors.  The example code contains a service for measuring battery voltage that you can use for analog inputs.  It also has SPI for CC2540 and I2C for CC2541 reading of the accelerometer.  Both of these should help you in reading any external sensor that use either protocol.

If you are planning to "get pioneered in BLE", you have a lot of reading to do.  I suggest you start here if you haven't already done so.

i decided to go with CC2541 single chip solution.right now i making schematic design. i need to know what are the programming pins for this chip...is it (DD,DC & rst) ...or (cs,si,so,sck)..due to size restriction i can not go for 10pin header...so i need to know which pins are necessary for programming and debugging...
