Hello,

I have attached an .apk of an Android application that is in progress. This application can be used instead of the RF430FRL152HEVM GUI that is discussed in the application note below. There are still some bugs that are being worked out, but wanted to make this available now for demonstration purposes. Once the bugs have been fixed, we will release full source code as well. We expect this in the next few weeks.

Hi Eddie,

I too am looking fwd to the source code for .apk. Wanted to use it as a "bring up" code for sensor patch without the TRF7970evm. Even the version with few minor bugs will be a start for me.

Please explain us how we can read the data from an external analog sensor (Gas sensor) on a android phone?

Hello,

In order to read your own custom sensor you would need to modify the Application source code. The app was written only for the two sensors you mentioned.

The source code file you will want to look at it is Iso15693WriteTagActivity.java

I don't know the details of how to write an android app myself, but at a high level I think what you would need to do is:

Ensure the write commands which are issued to configure the RF430FRL152H will get your sensor data properly
Handle any calculations needed
Plot the data on one of the existing graphs - you should be able to rename a graph and re-use it fairly easily... at least compared to making a 3rd graph

You also may want to modify the timing between samples and such depending on what frequency you were looking to get results at.

Hope this helps give some ideas on what needs to be done to accomplish your goal.

To develop support for a different sensor, please refer to the example project called SensorHub example.
It can be found here: www.ti.com/.../slac691
You will have to develop a routine that will read one sample result from the sensor over I2C or SPI. The ROM code will call this routine when it is needed to be sampled. The results can be read out over RF when the sample is completed.
Please refer to the RF430FRL15xH Firmware Users Guide for help on where the results are stored ( www.ti.com/.../slau603 ) and for more information.

The Android phone will need to have a custom App that uses the NFC Type V stack. This can be used to issue commands to and from the RF430FRL152H over RF. If you need an example Android project please refer to this thread:

Currently, do you correct the bugs of application software?
