RF430FRL152H Output Power capability?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RF430FRL152H

Hello,

I want to interface a digital sensor (I2C based) with RF430FRL152H. Sensor power ratings are, Supply current: 600uA to 850uA, with dual input voltages: 1.8V & 3.3V min. both of them are required. Can i harvest  power from RF field and get these power requirements from the RF430FRL152H?.

Or do i need to add any LDO/power amplifiers to match the requirements? Please suggest

Thanks,

Hardik

  • For the 1.8V you could use the VDDH unregulated RF voltage.  It can vary a little bit based on distance.  Please see the datasheet for the exact variation.  However it can supply 600uA at a short range.

The 3.3V may be able to be supplied with a second antenna and an LDO.  The voltage doubler cannot supply the current you need.  You may be able to use a booster and harvest the energy from the same antenna but this will impact the reading range somewhat.

Also if you need 850uA for both voltages you will be pretty close if not exceeding the mobile handset power harvesting potential.
