RI-TRP-W9TB glass transponder Replacement

Hello TI Team,

A customer asked us to produce and deliver a replacement for TI RFID Tag "RI-TRP-W9TB" (50mm Glass Transponder), because this part is no longer available from TI and we could not find a replacement. Is it possible to get the RFID-ICs, so that we will be able to produce a one-to-one replacement? The quantities will be several thousands per year. Our Company is familiar with producing RFID-Tags (Trovan type modulation scheme), even glass encapsulated.

    Dear Thomas,

    many thanks for your request, unfortunately we are not able to offer the IC/module for this project.

    An alternative could probably be the RI-TRP-W9VS-30 mount on metal transponder delivering similar read ranges, of which we still have >5k units on stock.

    Hello KSA,

    thank you for the information. The recommended alternative transponder could probably fill a gap in the near future, but the application needs not only a replacement but also a lot of transponders for new constructions. So please answer the two questions:
    1) Is the TIRIS 134,2 kHz HDX technology running out and will no longer be supported by TI?
    2) Is there another company which took over the TIRIS technology?

    Hello KSA,

    TI has the TMS37157 in active production. Is it possible, to build a pure transponder (no µC) around this IC? Are the same reading distances possible when using the same or similar ferrite rods? Is this transponder able to respond immediately after the charge period or do i always have to send a read command from reader to the transponder?
