CC3000 Wi-Fi Application

Do I also have to configure the IP of the cc3000 for it to connect to the AP?

Hi Raven,

You need not configure the IP address. After the SmartConfig process is complete, the you should receive following events from the CC3000.

HCI_EVNT_WLAN_UNSOL_CONNECT
HCI_EVNT_WLAN_UNSOL_DHCP

Can you please verify if the event 'HCI_EVNT_WLAN_UNSOL_CONNECT' is received? Also make sure that your program does not exit before you have received these events. Wait till you get them:

while ((ulCC3000DHCP == 0) || (ulCC3000Connected == 0))
{  
   __delay_cycles(1000);
}

The program seems to come back to the infinite loop after completing the smartconfig process..How do I get it to run the HCI_EVENT_WLAN_UNSOL_DHCP and HCI_EVENT_WLAN_UNSOL_CONNECT?

Hi Raven,

Your smartConfig process looks fine. Its the connection that is failing for you.

- Do you have the correct AP key passed from your smartConfig application?

- May be your CC3000 application is configured for encryption and if so, you would have to pass the encryption key through the smartConfig application.

Hi Raghav,

the cc3000 application is configured for running without encryption. This is the code in the wi-fi application,wlan_smart_config_start(0 /* unencrypted SmartConfig */);. Is there another way in which I can establish this connection?

Also can you tell me why the HCI_EVNT_WLAN_UNSOL_DHCP  and the HCI_EVENT_WLAN_CONNECT do not occur even though they should occur right?

Hi Raven,

The events HCI_EVNT_WLAN_UNSOL_DHCP  and the HCI_EVENT_WLAN_CONNECT occur only when the correct SSID and AP password are retrieved by the CC3000 from your configuration device, after the SmartConfig process is complete.

From your description, it looks like either the SSID or the AP password are not retrieved correctly. Or the password/encryption key is wrong. Just to narrow down on possibilities, can you please try this with Open security?

Also, if you are not using encryption, then please define 'CC3000_UNENCRYPTED_SMART_CONFIG' in the project properties, and rebuild the Host Driver and the Application.

I did try to connect to the AP without a password. Now I am trying to add the  # define CC3000_UNENCRYPTED_SMART_CONFIG in the project properties. I have to add this in the cc3000common.h file ?

I saw the preprocessor oprions and the #define CC3000_UNENCRYPTED_SMART_CONFIG is already present. Any other suggestions?

It seems to be working now. I get an IP address now. I changed the name of my AP and tried it again. I dont know why but it seems to work now. Even using an AP password works.
