Hello all,

We are using the CC3000 with an iOS app which in turn uses the TI's SmartConfig library for the configuration of WiFi parameters on the CC3000. The library is precompiled to 32 bit and within a week, all iOS apps will need to be 64 bit in order to be approved. In another post some users are asking for 64 bit support for the SmartConfig library but without answers from TI. Let's turn the question around, it is possible to use the new WiFi Starter library (already 64 bit) to configure the CC3000? What changes are needed in the app using the library and/or in the CC3000 host code? We tried the WiFi Starter out of the box and it is not working with CC3000.

Hi Martin,

The WiFi Starter Library won't be compatible with CC3000. We understand the requirement and are working on the 64bit version apps for both CC3000 and CC3100/CC3200.

By the way, can you please explain why you think the current WiFi starter library is already in 64 bit?

Hi Victor,

It seems that our external partner, the developer for the mobile app has made a confusion about the WiFi Starter library being 64 bit. But this makes things even worse because it means that there is no 64 bit library at all for any CC3X module.

Do you have any deadlines for the new 64 bit versions? Having this info will make it easier to plan our mobile app release schedule. Thanks.

No deadline can be provided at the moment. Our R&D is working on it. We'll let you know once the library is ready.

Hi Martin,

The app has been re-compiled and tested for 64bit. We in the process of pushing out to the App store. You should expect to an update very soon.

So we should soon expect also the libraries for both CC3000 and CC31XX/CC32XX chipsets? We actually need the 64 bit libraries.

Hi Martin,

The embedded code will remain unchanged as the upgrade does not affect the Smart Config architecture. The upgrade to 64bit is only for iOS app.

I was probably misunderstood, what we need is the 64 bit iOS library that can be embedded in our iOS app to enable the configuration of the CC3000 via SmartConfig.

Hi Martin,

We've already got the CC3000 Smart Config App source with SmartConfig library in 64bit. We'll try to push the files onto this location soon.

CC3100/CC3200 is still in the progress and will be released later.

is there any update regarding 64 bit IOS support of WiFi starter for CC3200?

To sum up, we spent months developing a product on CC3000. No matter what we did, CC3000 couldn't handle it. Finally we gave up and switched to CC3200. After another couple of months we're ready but there is still no 64 Bit IOS support of WiFi starter, and we can't publish an 32 bit app in app store. The whole app development is on hold and waiting for that part.

After 3 months without any update from you guys, we really need to know when you're going to publish it for our production planning. We event can't be sure, if you're working on it. If not, we will have to consider a different solution.
