Greetings,

We are trying to discover mac addresses of everything on the current sub-net and having very little luck.

According to the NetApp documentation we should have access to arp. However the api for NetApp doesn't really address the issue.

A previous thread mentioned creating our own arp type process, but bsd's PF_ROUTE is not implemented on the 3200. We're at a loss for another protocol we could use for discovery.

Any help or guidance would be a big help.

Two options:

1) Transceiver mode, sniff packets and learn mac address (no option to send ARP request, SL device is not connected to AP )

2) NS bypass mode, which allow you to send ARP request and receive ARP response from host ( in this mode you need to implement NS at host). If you prefer to use the internal NS and just learning the network in short periods , do the following procedure::

- disable internal filter

- open NS bypass socket

- implement ARP request and ARP response at host , learn the network.

- roll back to internal NS mode, enable filter and close the NS bypass socket

Notice: in the period you learn the network , the internal NS don`t receive any packets, it may affect internal application and other socket you already opened , so roll back ASAP.
