Hi all,

I have made a prototype with a CC3200R1M2 supplied by TI.

For to program it, I use a part of the CC3200 LAUCHXL :

GPIO1 and GPIO2 of my own board are connected to J7(3) and J6(3) of the LXL.

Reset is connected to LXL P2.5 and so on.

I disconnect th CC3200 of the LXL removing J12.

SOP2 is 1,SOP1 is 0 and SOP0 is 0

I have tried to communicate with my board using CCS UNIFLASH but it doesn't work.

Making the hypothesis that my board is OK, is there something wrong on my approach ?

Are the CC3200R1M2 ready to work with the good bootloader ?

Hi,

CC3200 module should work with Uniflash via the UART lines.

You are trying to connect the existing LaunchPad board with external CC3200 module so you need to make sure all lines are connected to the module and also that the lines connected to the onboard CC3200 QFN are not affecting the new module.

For example, did you connect all the power lines to the module?

If you need HW assistance I can loop in someone for assistance.

IT looks like you are getting some response from the chip but it looks garbled. Are you sure there is no other circuit connected on the UART lines. Can you add a 100K pull-up on the CC3200 UART TX output before it is connected to the launchpad.
I dont see anything wrong with your approach. Also make sure both the boards are at the same voltage and share a common ground.

Hello Shlomi,

Prajay's recommendation worked for me.
Also, the USB hub that i was using to connect my hardware was not sourcing sufficient current to both the devices.
I changed that as well.

Now, i am able to program my hardware through CC3200 LaunchXL launchpad.

One more thing,
since the CC3200R1M2 is a production device, i checked the Secure option while Formatting it (and updated its service pack after that).

Hi Joseph,

I am using CC3200MOD with my breakout here and is working.

Here are my connections:
GND, VCC(3.3V)
SOP1,0->0
SOP2->VCC(3.3V)
CC3200_TX to LXL_RX
CC3200_RX to LXL_TX
CC3200_NRESET->LXL_RST

Hello all,
Joseph, did your prototype work ??

My serial flash of my prototype is getting programmed.
I am able to run non-os based applications (e.g. UART_demo) but i am unable to run the httpserver application.

It gets struck in static void FaultISR(void) or gives "Fatal Error: Communication with target failed".

The application works perfectly with the CC3200 LaunchXL launchpad, but not with my prototype !!

What can be the problem ??

Did u run the httpserver application with your prototype ??
Which CC3200 chip and Serial Flash did u use ??

Well I am using CC3200MOD and I used LaunchPadXL and Energia for flashing it.

And Also Flash latest version using UniFlash

I tested energia example for WebServer and it works fine

Yes.
In fact i updated the device with service pack 1.0.0.1.2.
Other than that, which firmware are u talking about ??

Hi Ali,
I updated the service pack successfully.
No, i didn't try energia. I don't know how to use it.
I am using the example codes from CC3200 SDK and UniFlash to program the device.

If you have LaunchPad XL you can use energia is pretty easy. It has many examples.
Just connect JTAG J8 TCK to SOP2 as it explain here.

My problem is not energia or SDK.
The code from SDK work on the CC3200 Launchpad, but it is not working on my hardware.
This is my problem.

Dont give up so fast as we are here to help you out. Can you twist your UART connections to the Launchpad using ground and signal together. There could be some glitches ont he line causing errors. Also make the lines as short as possible and add a 100K pull-up on the UART_TX from the CC3200. Just to be sure the grounds of the boards should be shorted together.

Hello all,
I checked everything in my code and hardware.
Although the code was correct, the actual problem was with the hardware.

After checking the GPIO and Power connections, i found out that the 40MHz crystal was not soldered properly.
As a result, the CC3200R1M2 chip was not working, and hence i was getting communication error.

Now my problem is solved and i am able to execute my application.

Hi all,

I'm not giving up the whole project. So my prototyping possibilities are not high enough for the CC3200 chip.

So it is better for me to use the CC3200 module. I am making a new PCB, I will inform you soon.

All things are OK now, with the pullup resistor in Tx line.

Now I'm interfacing a LSM303 D from ST instead of the BM222
