MQTT Server/Client - Broadcast messages over the network

Dear all,

I am sending messages from the server to 2 different clients. The problem is that clients are on my home network and IP addresses changes depending on the number of attached devices.

I would like the server to send broadcast messages over the network and clients to read them depending on the topic on which they are enrolled avoiding any dependencies from IP addresses.

Is it possible using the provided SDK!? any idea?

Hi Alessandro,

By broadcast, do you mean publishing of messages on topics? If yes, then the implementation of MQTT client does receive these published messages on the topic that it has subscribed on.

Hi Raghavendra,

what I mean is that I would like all the MQTT clients connected to an AP (e.g. my home wi-fi router) to communicate with the MQTT local server (connected to the same WLAN), without having to set the server IP on them. This due to the fact that the local IP of the MQTT server may change depending whether other devices connect to the network, and/or if I reboot my router.

Hi Alessandro,

You can use the mDNS broadcast from the local server to CC3200 on the same network.
You can use the mDNS application (processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CC32xx_mDNS) available with the SDK to listen to these advertisement packets.

This by default is not available with the mqtt_client example.
