RF37S114: Detecting RFID tags without reading their adress.

Part Number: RF37S114

How do you do,

With the team, we are working on an RFID application. We are using RF37S114 NFC transponders. The reading power of a reader is not a problem because we have a 1,4W reader and we can boost this if necessary. The reader antenna can be as big as 500x500mm (lots of reader antenna gain I guess?). The problem is that the thing we are detecting is very small so the transponder is witch it is.

We would like to detect a transponder from further away. So my questions are:

1. Do you (TI) have any tests on how does the reader power and its antennas gain affect the reading range? Or do you happen to know how would my antenna and reader affect the reading distance of RF37S114?

2. I have been told that there may be a way to detect an RFID transponder from the furder if you don't want to read its address. Since we need to just detect whether it is or it isn't here that would work. Is such a thing possible? How could we do this and how would this boost the reading range?

Thank you.
