CC2500: CC2500+CC2591 EN 301 489-1 Immunity problem

Part Number: CC2500
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2591, , CC2592

Hi,

Our customer is testing CC2500 and CC2591/CC2592 on their customer board under
ETSI EN 301 489-1 9.2 Radio frequency electromagnetic field (80 MHz to 1 000 MHz and 1 400 MHz to 2 000 MHz).
According to their test result,
the RF gets disconnected sometimes around 1800~2000MHz.
This problem can be avoided by covering front side of antenna with a shielding sheet.
Please let us know if there is any suggestions on this issue
like software or hardware schematic solutions.
Best Regards,
  • Hi Matsumoto,

It is expected that the RF communication does not work under certain field strengths and frequencies. This is ok as long as the communication is re-established when the field is removed.

    Regards,
    Fredrik
  • Hi Fredrik-san,

Thank you for your suggestion on this issue.

The customer has discussed with the Certification organization.

As per the below ETSI EN document, "Performance criteria for transient phenomena"
would be satisfied as long as the communication is re-established when the field is removed.
    www.etsi.org/.../en_30148901v020200a.pdf

Whereas,"Performance criteria for continuous phenomena" could not be satisfied
because this criteria requires that RF do not get disconnected.
The certification organization has mentioned that the customer test result
won't be able to pass this criteria.

Meanwhile our customer want to know the cause and the solution of this issue.
Is this occurred by saturation of internal filter?
Is this improved by adding external filter?

Please let us know if there is any suggestions.

    Best Regards,
