Data Rates and Range

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650, CC2640R2F

Hi team,

We are interested in 2.4GHz proprietary solutions. I see on the CC2650 we have a 5 Mbps mode, what sort of range can we expect on that? Do we have a table somewhere that will show us the data rate vs. the range?

Regards,

Akash Patel

  • We do not have a table of data range vs range, but for range estimation use the following link: e2e.ti.com/.../375556
  • Don`t use that rate! Even don`t trust the TI data sheets! The 5 Mbps mode is nowhere included in the examples. It only works with UNDISCLOSED patches! And even than not well documented.
Only 500 kbps works without problems.
  • Hi J Scherer,

Thank you for your input. It is true that support for the 5 Mbps mode has not been made publicly available yet. This is mainly due to prioritization of other FW examples. We are however planning to make proprietary examples available for the CC2640R2F device in the not too distant future.

I am not sure why you recommend people to not trust TI data sheets, there is really no reason not to do that. For example the performance numbers for 5 Mbps are valid and can be used for link budget calculations. It seems SVS provided you all the required FW and settings to test this for yourself.

    Cheers,
    Fredrik
