Searching crystal for CC1110 mounted in SmartRFCC1110

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2510

Hello, I'm searching for a crystal listed in partlist of SmartRFCC1110.

Crystal, 26.000MHz SMD Crystal AKER Electronics C5S-26.000-16-1010-R

I have tried in Digikey, Farnell, Mouser... but thereisn't this reference.

Where can I find this reference?

Can you give me an alternative that have been tested satisfactorily?

Thank you.

  • I have the same problem in trying to find this 26MHz crystal oscillator (part no. C5S-26.000-16-1010-R).

Is there any particular reason that TI uses this oscillator on the development kit?  Will any 26MHz oscillator do?  Can TI recommends a 26MHz oscillator that is readily available at the big name distributors like mouser, digikey, etc?

Also, for cc2510, the 32.768kHz crystal oscillator is not really necessary, meaning the SoC will work without it, right?

    Thanks!

  • Hi LeiChen1,

I was wondering if you were gotten the answer to your questions regarding the alternative part no for the 26MHz crystal oscillator (part no. C5S-26.000-16-1010-R).

If you have the answer, could you share it to me?

    Thanks,

    Ben.

  • Alternative part nr is the NDK crystal which can also be used: NX3225GA, EXS00A-CG01972

    Regards,

       Richard

  • For the CC2510, the 32.768kHz crystal oscillator is only required for achieving low power modes.

Refer to Table 6 in the CC2510 datasheet:

With 26 MHz system clock running : 4.3 mA (PM0) and by using the 32 kHz osc or low power RCOSC then the current consumption drops to 0.2 mA (PM1).

    Regards,

       Richard.

  • Richard,

The 32.768KHz crystal oscillator in CC2510, do you have any recommendations for alternative crystal other than MC-306 from Epson used in the reference design?

If I set the CC2510 to Wake-on-Radio (WOR) to reduce power consumption, and in PM2 mode (for current consumption of 0.5uA), would there be an issue with the WOR functionality?

    Ben.

  • Hello,
I'm searching for a crystal listed in partlist of SmartRFCC1110. Crystal, 26.000MHz SMD Crystal AKER Electronics C5S-26.000-16-1010-R. But I couldn't find it. As seen in the previous posts, an alternate part is suggested which is NX3225GA, EXS00A-CG01972.
As per the components mounted on SmartRFCC1110 board, the crystal marked is ASX5F series crystal(ASX5F-26M-FA160A3) from ANSEN QUARTZ manufacturer.
I searched for the same, no use. But I got a crystal (ASX3F-26M-FA160A3) suggested by ANSEN manufacturer.
This specifications are some how matching with Crystal, 26.000MHz SMD Crystal AKER Electronics C5S-26.000-16-1010-R.

Can any one please suggest me, which crystal is better to get good performance of Board.
If I use the ANSEN crystal, what is the impact on RF range performance with SMA antenna connector. Our target is 100 meters distance.
Your valuable response will makes me to move ahead.

    Best Regards

  • Not sure which reference design you are looking at, this www.ti.com/.../cc1110em868-915-rd uses a NDK crystal.

The range is not dependent on the xtal. Basically the xtal has to be within the spec given in 6.4.1 in www.ti.com/.../cc1110-cc1111.pdf for the SoC to work.
