Does the CC1201 offer drastic power savings over the CC1101?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1101, CC1201, CC1200

MY customer has the CC1101 designed into their battery powered medical device. They say that the CC1101 accounts for ridiculous amounts of power and they'd be willing to switch to the cc1201 if there was a large enough power savings. And also is it p/p compatible?
Thanks for the support.

  • Power consumption is always a question about how they use the chip. To be able to answer if they can save some power by switching it would be useful to know something about their protocol and also which datarate and packet format they are using. Are they always in Tx or Rx or how often are they going up and for how long?

CC1200 is not pin compatible with CC1101.
