Is it possible to send non-connectable data packets same as SimpleLink from SimpliciTI on CC430F5137?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC430F5137, SIMPLICITI

Hi all,

Basically I am trying to achieve the lowest power consumption with long battery life and for that I am referring to Humidity and Temperature Sensor Node for Sub-1GHz Star Networks Enabling 10+ Year Coin Cell Battery Life.

I need a little help to understand and replicate the above design.

Q1> The design uses coin cell > Dc-Dc Boost IC > Nano Power system timer > Ultra-Low leakage load switch > load(Sensor and RF-SOC). Now, the Nano-Power system timer controls both boost IC and Load switch.

My question is do we need two components in series when we can already control the Boost IC on and off? What is the importance of load switch in this design?

Q2> The design states that they are sending data every minute as non-connectable data packets available in SimpleLink protocol. Which means they are turning off the RF SOC and Sensor part completely. If I tried to achieve the same thing with CC430F5137 running SimpliciTI protocol, it establishes the whole connection again with Access Point and it takes lot of time. But when I try to put it in the LPM4 mode it works fine due to retention of radio registers.

I want to turn of my RF SOC, so is there any thing available like "non-connectable data packets" in SimpliciTI also?

Thanks in advance for help.

Regards,

Vishal
