Hi Concerned,

I am using 15.4 stack given http://www.ti.com/tool/TI-15.4-STACK for CC1350. I Could able to flash Collector, MAC in one of CC1350 and Sensor, MAC on another CC1350 device. Collector able to sense sensor nodes nearby Joined. DI07 green LED is toggling on both Collector and Sensor nodes with beaconing communication. How do I capture data packets across (Collector to sensor and vice versa) devices, is there any best way to do this.

I heard about SmartRF packet sniffer to do, whether it is having support for CC1350 or we need to add on any other hardware interface to do so.

You have to use CC1200EM+TrxEB as TI 15.4 MAC sniffer.

There is no option to check with CC1350?

Is there any logging mechanism in 15.4 MAC portion of code to capture data packet

No, you cannot use CC1350 as sniffer now.

To sniff over the air packets you will need to use CC1200EM+TrxEB as YK suggested.
The examples included in the TI 15.4-Stack-2.0.1 enables UART logging, you can easily add code to send received data over the UART for logging, etc, please refer to the TI 15.4-Stack-2.0.1 developers guide for more details on how to use the out of box applications. The TI 15.4-Stack-2.0.1 is released as part of the SimpleLink CC13x0 SDK, which combines TI-RTOS, TI 15.4-Stack-2.0.1, and Proprietary-RF examples in one package. You can download the new TI 15.4-Stack from www.ti.com/tool/SIMPLELINK-CC13X0-SDK.
After installing you can find the new TI 15.4-Stack-2.0.1 developers guide and other documentation at C:\ti\simplelink_cc13x0_sdk_1_00_00_13\docs\ti154stack\. (Please note you will need to use CCSv7 for your application development)

Thanks a lot for giving detailed pointer on latest SDK released.

I could able to build both collector, sensor application with CCS 7.0 and flash successfully. I have connected 430BOOST Sharp LCD but I am not seeing any message on LCD, is it turned off by default?

TI 15.4-Stack-2.0.1 (Collector, Sensor) application does star topology implementation? What is the code snippet we need to add for UART logging, we need to add in Collector or Sensor project? What is mechanism (beacon/non beacon/frequency hopping) followed for data transfer from sensor to collector with TI 15.4-Stack-2.0.1 application ?

Hey Sudeept,

In v2.0.1 LCD output is redirected to UART for output by default. You can use a serial hyper-terminal program such as putty or teraterm to visualize this data. UART logging can be disabled by excluding the UART_PRINTF compile flag. To send data over UART you can call LCD_WRITE_STRING, LCD_WRITE_STRING_VALUE, or System_printf() APIs; The LCD API's can be used to toggle between LCD and UART when compiling using the UART_PRINTF flag while the System_printf will always output over UART. data transfer mechanism is configurable, but is non-beacon without frequency hopping by default.

Yes, TI 15.4-Stack implements star topology.

Thanks for your detailed mail. I have tried UART terminal (putty) configured to Collector and Sensor devices, could able to see all messages on Collector terminal not on Sensor terminal.

As I have connected 2 sensor devices and 1 collector setup currently, if I want to tap data packets (send from sensor to collector and vice versa) and send same data to UART, which portion of code we can append LCD_Write call in the application.

Collector receives data in processSensorData() so you can append LCD_Write call in it.

Hi Chen,

In 2.0.1 SDK, for routing messages to LCD instead of UART, we need to enable USE_UART_PRINTF, this macro which source it is being enabled?

By default in features I checked, FEATURE_ALL_MODES is set in Collector/Sensor project. As I don't have any packet sniffer (CC1200EM+TrxEb) with me right now, want to visualize packets sent across sensor and collector and vice versa, what is the best way to achieve the same. As I came to know through UART it is possible, which function we need to put code in both collector as well as sensor project to tap same.

1. To use LCD, you should remove UART_PRINTF from compile options.
2. To output received data on collector, you can put code in processSensorData().

ProcessSensorData function does collect all sensor data to collector, what about collector to sensor data flow, which function does this.

On collector side, you can copy sendMsg() function from sensor.c and use sendMsg(Smsgs_cmdIds_sensorData,...) to send sensor data. On sensor node, you should add "case Smsgs_cmdIds_sensorData:" in "switch(cmdId){...}" of dataIndCB() to receive sensor data and process it.

i don't sure how to do it .

i see the contiki sniffer (6lowpan)802.15.4 packet do(sensniff) on CC1310,

it should be do on Ti 15.4(same as 802.15.4) mac.

so it need wireshark dissection for 802.15.4eg to decode.

As I replied, there is no sniffer FW running on CC13X0 to make it as sniffer for TI 15.4 Stack.

I don't think that would work but you can try. You can refer to sunmaysky.blogspot.tw/.../how-to-use-cc2650dk-cc2650-launchpad-or.html and use "make TARGET=srf06-cc26xx BOARD=launchpad/cc1310 sniffer.bin" to build sniffer FW for sensniff.

I was able to log temp sensors data to collector side to UART. Thanks a ton for your pointer.

Above idea (from collector to sensor) which you suggested is yet to be tried out. Can you provide code snippet for further proceeding.

I have below queries on this front.

Collector-
-We need to take sendMsg() or sendSensorMessage() from sensor project to collector? If sendMsg(), we need to keep other function arguments as it is? What other logic we need to add in sendMsg() function.

Sensor-
-In dataIndCB() function once we add switch case for 'Smsgs_cmdIds_sensorData', we need to re-use same processsensordata() or modification to be taken care

You suppose to call sendSensorMessage when you want to send message in collector. You can keep all arguments in origin to test first and revise it later according to your application.

I suggest you to put it in "if(Csf_keys & KEY_LEFT){...}" directly so it will be triggered when left button is pressed.
