CC1310: Input RF level

Part Number: CC1310

hi,

a customer of mine is testing CC1310 in Long Range mode. Settings are as below:

We need to meet EN300220 and for that mode OCW ~ 21KHz. It means that Adjacent Channel Power Ratio is obligatory not Out Of Band Emissions. Unfortunately results for adjacent channel are not so good as required by EN300220 (Adj < -37dBc).

Could you advise please whether CC1310 is not suitable to using in narrow band application? What we can do to meet ACP requirements?

My first idea it to change deviation then 10kHz, then signal have wider bandwidth and ACP requirement is not valid because OCW >25KHz.

Can we change deviation to 10KHz and continue EN300220 compliance?

Has it impact to other RF parameter like sensitivity or blocking performance?

thanks a lot in advance

KR

  • Hi,
The standard setting for CC1310 is not configured as narrow band. There are narrow band settings available for CC1310.

    CC1310 with narrow band settings:

    433 MHz, 2-GFSK, 4.8 kbps, +/-2.4 kHz deviation, RX filter BW = 12 kHz

    Sensitivity: -118 dBm (1% BER)
ACS: 40 dB (12.5 kHz channel spacing)
ACP: > 40 dB (12.5 kHz channel spacing, 8.5 kHz channel bandwidth)

  • hi Richcard

thank you for information. It is clear. Unfortunately because of system complexity customer needs to use higher speed ~20kBaud (RF medium is shared with other systems). It makes that only some kind of Long Range Mode can be used. The suggested settings generates spectrum that has OccBW <25kHz.

Customer would like to increase deviation from 5kHz to 10kHz, then ACP requirements is no longer required because OccBW > 25kHz. Could you advice please whether that change is still acceptable? We are testing such configuration and so far so good, just they want to be sure that there are no hidden traps connected with this parameter change.

The second problem is connected with radiated spurious level at the highest power, but I would prefer to discuss it offline.

may you reach me out @ v-pizzolante@ti.com?

    thanks a lot in advance
